Jennifer has a life-long passion for family history and wanting to know where her family came from and knowing more about the people. As an Army dependent, she was away from extended family most of her life. In 7th grade, her very first elective was genealogy! And she’s not stopped researching and learning since.

Searching into her family history and genealogy, Jennifer has uncovered new mysteries and debunked some family myths. Working with her family, she’s been able to prove lineage back to American Revolution patriots and discover where her ancestors immigrated.

TurtleTrove will put that same passion into finding your family. We can help you discovery your family history for the first time or work through a roadblock in your research. Where did we get our name?

It’s hard to imagine now but it wasn’t that long ago when long-distance travel depended on sailing ships. Sailing across the Atlantic or Pacific was a major undertaking. Sailors used their knowledge of the environment including stars and sea life, such as turtles. In maritime lore, turtles were the navigator and often signaled to sailors that they were close to shore. Borrowing from Hawai’ian tradition, turtles have also come to mean family (o’hana). It is from these two traditions we take our name, finding the treasure trove of our family.
